Celegin Draken Viggen “Akka”

Our Viggen design goes back to when the first designs and concepts started to take place. In contrast to the Draken designs, the Viggen is based on the Type A pilot watch designs that became predominant in how aviation instrumentation in general was designed.
When making a Type A watch with a Swedish connection, the actual cockpit clock in Viggen offers a fantastic inspiration. The original cockpit clock had four hands, which inspired us to make the first Viggen watch model with the same: Celegin Viggen Cockpit GMT.
However, due to the long lead time of the SW330 movement used in the GMT version, we decided to produce and launch a time & date version first with release in November 2022! Since our first three watches (and the Cockpit GMT) all have black dials, we wanted to do something different this time. The white dial is almost a direct inversion of the black dial on the Cockpit GMT version. The 24h outer tracking line has been replaced with a minute & hour version while the black date dial has been retained. The hour and minute hands are lined in black to create a sufficient contrast versus the dial, while the orange seconds hand is retained (and will be on all future Celegin Viggen models).
 
The model name, “Akka”, is a reference to another Swedish icon: the goose in the classic story “The wonderful adventures of Nils” by Selma Lagerlöf. In the book, a small boy named Nils flies over the entire Swedish country on the back of a goose named Akka. We think this would be a befitting name of a Swedish pilot watch with a white dial.
Top requirements, top specifications
As usual for Celegin Precision Timing watches, every detail is thoroughly thought through. For the Viggen “Akka”, nothing has changed. We employ a top Swiss automatic mechanical movement: Sellita SW220-1, sapphire crystal, BGW9 illumination, brushed and polished case along with the detailed embossed case back. 10 ATM water resistance allows for surviving an emergency landing in the sea .
